The Spines of Hedgehog Mushrooms
Techniques and developments weaving the spines of hedgehog mushrooms. Exploring the empty spaces which when washed, creates twists and pushed up spines to recreate the textures seen underneath a hedgehog mushroom.
When washed and steamed, the sample pleats naturally due to the cramming and spacing technique I used

The combination of a spread apart ramie warp and a houndstooth pattern with a high twist weft made the weft jump up and twist in certain places when washed and steamed. The texture from far away looks like the spines of a hedgehog mushroom.
